The Sinar AP 6060 Moisture Analyzer is a capacitance based analyzer that has nine pre-programmed channels, used most commonly to measure moisture levels in free flowing agricultural commodities. It is unique in that it allows the user to access the data, and programming functions, protecting proprietary moisture calibrations.
Used by over 60% of the coffee industry to accurately measure the moisture in beans and grinds at the various stages of processing, as well as seed companies, animal feed manufacturers, grain companies, and more.
Oven tests (Loss On Drying) are the primary method by which many materials are evaluated for moisture content. The process of heating a sample at low temperatures, and weighing it until the rate of drying changes, and the critical moisture point is reached, may take many hours to complete, making it impractical for many applications.

620 AP 6060
This bulk density cylinder measures exactly 1/3 liter, for determination of density using the AP 6060
A moisture balance can reduce the amount of time considerably, to 5 or 10 minutes, but 5 minutes can be a long time in the processing world.
This MOC 120H Moisture Balance by Shimadzu, has a large diameter pan, and utilizes midwave IR Energy to help eliminate surface burn, and the heat absorbtion effects of color.
The SINAR AP 6060 Moisture Analyzer uses an indirect method for establishing moisture content, by utilizing the electrical properties of water to provide a measure of total moisture, with great speed (Average Reading 6 Seconds), and accuracy (+/- .1%), making it a desirable technology where time equals money.
By using the SINAR for speed, and an oven or moisture balance, as a reference and calibration method, moisture determination, at least in agricultural products, can streamlined.
Hundreds of grain, seed, and feed calibrations are on file, and available for download, and may be stored in file format on a computer, until needed. Alternatively, custom sample calibrations can be created easily in house. QAQC Lab also offers this service for free with a purchase, or for a small fee to existing customers.
SINAR MNET SOFTWARE ALLOWS COMPLETE PROGRAMMING AND CUSTOMIZATION CAPABILITES
Calibrations can be transferred between different Sinar Instruments, including this SINAR LSA
Accuracy:standard deviation 0.3 for moisture (dependent on
application and moisture level) and 1.0 for hectolitre (bushel)
weight
Repeatability: Standard deviation 0.05 to 0.15 (dependent on
application)
Weight Balance: Oscillating weight balance which also
operates in non-horizontal position. measures and corrects
for weights between 20-240 grams.
Temperature corections: Thermistor sensor connected to
microprocessor
The correction is software programmable
Temperature read out and correction 0-50°C
Full cell: 290 ml volume
Bias facility: Moisture content and hectolitre (bushel) weight
readings can be biased in increments of 0.1
Temperature: °C or °F
Specific weight: Hectolitre or Bushel weight readings
To create a custom calibration, a sample must have somewhat uniform chemical composition and packing density. In these samples of sugar beet seeds, two separate calibrations are required, because the amount of chaff in the field sample is much higher than in the unpolished sample, creating different packing densities.

OVER TIME AND BY REGION, CROP CHARACTERISTICS CAN CHANGE. INDIRECT METHOD ANALYZERS (NIR, CAPACITANCE, RESISTANCE) RELY ON OVEN TEST DATA FOR THEIR ABILITY TO PROVIDE USABLE MOISTURE INFORMATION.
IF THE OVEN TEST DATA CHANGES, THE CORRELATION VALUES IN THE INSTRUMENT ALSO NEED TO BE CHANGED, AND CALIBRATED TO THE NEW OVEN TEST DATA. WITH SINAR MOISTURE ANALYZERS, YOU DON"T NEED TO SEND THE INSTRUMENT BACK TO THE MANUFACTURER FOR TESTING AND PROGRAM IF THE OVEN TEST DATA CHANGES, THE CORRELATION VALUES IN THE INSTRUMENT ALSO NEED TO BE CHANGED, AND CALIBRATED TO THE NEW OVEN TEST DATA. WITH MNET SOFTWARE, YOU HAVE COMPLETE ACCESS TO THE DATA, AND PROGRAMMING FUNCTIONS OF THE INSTRUMENT. IT IS ALWAYS RECOMMENDED TO HAVE A DIRECT METHOD OF MOISTURE DETERMINATION AVAILABLE, FOR REGULARLY SCHEDULED VERIFICATION TESTS.
