The original Bostwick Consistometer is the preferred choice for measuring consistency, flow rate and viscosity in a variety of products.
Use the Bostwick Consistometer on any viscous material such as sauces, salad dressings, paints, chemicals or cosmetics to measure the distance a material flows in a given time interval.
The Bostwick complies to Mill Spec R-81294D and ASTM F1080-93 and is made of stainless steel construction.

OPERATION
Fill the reservoir with the material to be tested, and level off the top with a straight edge.
Press down on the trigger to open the gate at the beginning of the time cycle. At the end of the selected time period, determine how far rthe material has flowed along the trough.
Take the maximum reading at the center of the trough, and the minimum reading at the edge of the trough, and average the values.
The average value is then compared against a previously determined standard.
